I've rented cars here several times and it's a short walk from baggage claim, and easy to return the car without taking a bus or tram.
My SW flight was delayed 2 hours this time, and between the shops, a Starbucks, and a really nice docking station with desk space where I could charge my phone and read, the time went by fast.
Overall, not an eye appealing airport once past security, but gets the job done and functions just fine.
My daughter and I flew out of John Glenn Columbus International Airport on this past Sunday. (My daughter traveled with a wheelchair.) Our hotel took us by shuttle to the airport. Where the shuttle is required to park, we had to cross a few lanes of traffic. However, just as soon as we exited the shuttle, an airport employee met us and escorted us to our gate, pushing my daughter in the wheelchair. He was so helpful and courteous, taking extra concern for my daughter's comfort, and offering to stop before we got to the gate in case we needed to get anything from a store, etc. We appreciated his assistance and courtesy so much.
We lived in Columbus for 20 years so I go way back with this airport. It's grown over the years with continued updates, a new parking garage, easier and quicker access from I-670. Besides being a much cheaper alternative getting back to Ohio than Cincinnati, it's just easy to navigate from Car Rentals, cleanliness, efficiency of getting through security, and great shops and restaurants.
The airport inside, past the security checkpoint, is getting quite dated and worn looking, might be time to step up the interior appearance. I mean sure it is nice to have seats with charging, but the strewn about extension cords to power the aren't exactly screaming quality or even code.
Yet to have a long TSA line here, always a pleasure.
On-site parking is expansive and expensive, find cheaper options elsewhere.
Regarding the airport itself, it was very clean, well-lit, and comfortable. And, they recycle!! Love that! John Glen International might just be my new favorite airport.
All three concourses are in walking distance - it's an International Airport without all the trains, confusion, traffic - not too big and not too small.
My baggage claim here was hassle-free and I was able to locate my host easily at the parking lot outside.
Port Columbus to John Glenn airport. It's still all the same. Construction move from inside to outside. Even with construction never had any issues here. Can't even count the times picking and dropping people off. Always use short term parking but I was not able to park on the roof due to its long term overflow parking today. New arrival screen is massive! Thumbs up on the new interior.
Once at the airport, it is nice walking in, and has some nice art installations.
The gates and jetways are a bit worn looking.
