This church had been the first United Methodist church in central Ohio to fully welcome LGBT people. Now there are others but this church had been the first.
The preachers are wonderful people, with good senses of humor, great storytelling, and a solid, well-studied theology based on God's love for ALL people, and that God gives us blessings, gifts, and love so that we can pass them on to all other people. The church allows people to explore, ask questions, and is accepting and loving for people who are at varying levels in their understanding or commitment to Christ.
One of, if not the most, inclusive church in the Central Ohio metropolitan area. They constantly advertise on their sign, that faces King Ave, and in plenty of the local papers about how they Welcome Everybody.
The church is also involved in the community. They constantly encourage and provide opportunities for the members to engage in service, everything from meals on wheels to mission trips to an orphanage in Mexico, to weekly food pantry collections, to offering support groups--the list could go on and on.
A wonderful, welcoming church that I am proud to attend, and will continue to as long as I live in Columbus!
I am so proud to be part of this church family. It is one of the only churches I've been to that honestly and conscientiously lives it's mission. God's love is powerful here.
I have been attending King Ave for a little over 3 years now. The entire church really practices what they preach--EVERYONE is welcome here, no matter who you are. They are honestly, truly inclusive, and I really mean that!

The music is also wonderful and tends toward traditional (choir and organ; no rock band). The church features a beautiful-looking and -sounding organ, with an extremely talented organist. The choir, bell choir, and special musical guests are all wonderful; the musical director an amazing teacher and manager of the music. The choir sings everything from southern gospel to Mozart's Requiem to modern inspirational.
