I thought everything was delicious, but I got food poisioning here. The only sushi restaraunt in Columbus that’s made me sick- be careful! Sad because I was excited to go back~
I wanted to share my experience from today's visit (11/5/17) to Kona Grill at Easton. I have been in few other Kona Grills around the country and this is my first time here in Ohio. I always know that I will get amazing food and a great service. This was not exactly what I got today. I food was good even though the server failed to tell us about the happy hour deals.
First experience was good. Every visit since has been a major letdown. Was brought undercooked fish multiple times. The rice was awful. And their mixed drinks don't taste very good.
Management didn’t even come over to our table to ask how things were and follow-up, stepping in themselves. Nothing was taken off of our total check for the awful service. I’ve worked in the service industry for 2 years, and clearly Sydney received 10% (realistically should have been 0%) on our $400 bill. Shame on her, or MANAGEMENT (if she was new), to have her taking on a party of 9. Will never be back, nor do I recommend anyone else going. High prices, HORRIBLE service AND management practices. There was a party of 20 right after us... we all laughed and thought, “good god, that’s going to be a DISASTER!” As we were walking out of the place, I asked my dad what he was looking at (since he was looking at the front sign of the restaurant up above), he said “so I can remember to NOT come back to this place.” LOL.
Hello,
I normally do not post reviews but...dropped by to place a pick up order. Hostess said to give her a minute, she then helped a person looking to get seated who arrived after me. Ok, great didn't take too long then the phone was ringing for a call in order and very politely asked if I minded if she took the call. Told her I did and I would be quick if she went ahead and put my order in, would be great. Well I guess she did mind b/c I was sitting in the bar waiting which she passed by me twice right before I went to the hostess stand to check on my order. It's been almost 30 min and I was told 15 min. And it was sitting there...ready. Not cool.
My dad got up from his seat to go find a manager (did not receive his name, but was working the dinner shift this night), and they had another server step in to help- but that server didn’t bring drinks which we ordered. The extra server really only refilled our waters.
I am not sure why we were treated this way and I definitely did not appreciate the poor service. I can hardly ever remember a time that I did not tip my server but this today was for sure my first to leave zero tip!
I NEVER write Google reviews, but had to for this place - so please take some time to read this review, before you go here. There are much better options for food in the Easton area. I, also, never nag about restaurants, and have sympathy for the service industry (as I’ve been in it before). However, this place deserves this review, to be included with the 5 other 1-star reviews below this one. If I could place a 0-star, I would!
Their sushi is okay but usually falls apart easily.
First time being here, and had a 9-person party reserved today, on 12/23. I really wanted to like this place, since the atmosphere and food were great! My family, however, received poor AWFUL service with a server named SYDNEY (a blonde bimbo, at that). I could see that she was cashing out ONE other table, and that was it. So, it’s not like she was at full-capacity with a full section. Took at least 30 minutes to get our drinks. Took 40 minutes to receive a diet Pepsi, because you know - it’s such a hard drink to make. Sydney walked away from our table with only receiving one side of the table’s appetizer orders, and then came back 10 minutes later, and we had to tell her that more of us would like to order appetizers. Took almost an hour to order our entrees, and we were done with our appetizers for a good 15 minutes before ordering entrees. Our finished appetizer plates sat on our table, taking up more space for a good 30 minutes after we were finished. Our entrees were already out, and the appetizer plates just sat. Let’s talk about pre-bussing tables, much??? *clap clap clap* Our drinks had NO alcohol in them, and some of us had some nerve to send them back to remake, while a couple of us just drank our mixed drinks and not saying anything. A separate server took them off of our hands, since Sydney was never around. We told the server that we know he didn’t make the drinks, and that it wasn’t his fault!
Our server never came back to ask about how we liked the food or fill our drinks (water). We waited patiently to get our check and when that was taking longer than it should, I asked another server to ask our server if she can bring our check which I saw that she spoke to. Our sever, passed it once or twice and never acknowledged our need and more than 15 minutes after we asked for check she dropped it on her way to another table. Still we had to find her and get someone to give her my card so we can pay and leave to get my child from a friend's house.
It took over 12 minutes to get someone to acknowledge us once we were seated. The table we was chosen for us was not clean. I had to use the napkin on clean table and food off the menu. Once we ordered out food, it took awhile to come but nothing out off the ordinary. Our water was never refilled and my son asked for some ranch for his burger/fries, which took about 10 minutes to bring to table when he was almost done with all his food (I was done with mine at the time).
Even our checks were all messed up, with ONLY 2 separate checks (so so hard to comprehend *sarcasm*). My dad didn’t want to give any more of a hassle with such poor service, so he just paid for the items that were supposed to be on the only other check (so we could leave even sooner). I had to ask for the drink menu twice, since Sydney seemed to be more pre-occupied with cleaning the tables around us, and forgot I had asked the first time 10 minutes before (I watched her the whole time doing this). So, obviously, our drinks were empty for a good amount of time. You would think (?) as a server that you would want to up-sell up-sell up-sell, keeping your guests’ drinks full - especially with their entrees out. As one may tell, Sydney was hardly checking on our table, making sure everything was okay.
