What about this Ohio State Testing (OST)? We are all tired of the government testing our knowledge on standardized tests. Depending on our future career do you think people are really going to care if you do or don't know what standard form, slope intercept , or to write linear/ nonlinear equations? If us students handed the state the tests they have us take they wouldn't be able to pass it unless you're a Einstein. It is stressing our human minds and is crazy that the state bases our knowledge on standardized testing.
Won't fund severe disabilities like they should. I work at a private school, and they force nonprofits to inappropriately pair children when their functioning is so severe that employees can barely decrease maladaptive behaviors in exchange for daily living skills. It's shameful and sick to neglect kids who have so much potential, all just to save a buck.
Christ, stop treating this state like it's a strict school in Japan. This "unexcused absence" system is so dumb. "OH YOU HAVE A TERMINAL ILLNESS, WELL HERE BE SENT HERE JUST SO YOU KNOW HOW IMPORTANT SCHOOL IS MORE THAN THE FACT YOU'RE GOING TO DIE HURR DURR". The education system here is ruined because of you guys, fantastic job.
What a tragedy and clear example of how bureaucracy and state agency politics work to undermine vision and purpose. As a parent of both traditional public and charter school students in the state, I began studying the school choice issue after personally experiencing the onslaught of charter school misinformation being funded and peddled by our state/country's longest standing special interest. ODE/BOE seem OK with dismissing and completely ignoring the voices of those they are there to serve... even going as far as intentionally blocking public comment at a meeting where they were voting on the fate of 10's of thousands until after the vote. 5 stars for bureaucracy, reckless abuses of power, and a misguided focus on accountability over opportunity. 5 stars for the piles and piles of half data that they produce but data that fails to account for key variables and data they don't seem interested in studying and translating to improvements. 5 start for kicking an old rusty can on down the road over and over again. Where are our state's thought leaders that are paving the way for the future of education? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Extremely deceiving. Never give clear answers. I will never understand why they make it so hard for someone with an out of state License to TEACH. I JUST WANT TO TEACH. TEACH TEACH. Why make it SO hard? Ohio's education system, from what I've heard and seen first hand, is crumbling. It's a sad time for teachers.
