I stayed this past weekend at the Hawthorn Suites , Columbus West. No one was at the desk when we needed more towels, then we had to go to the desk for them. We were lucky to get a sheet and blanket for the pullout, no pillow. Breakfast no one around to replenish food , which was not hot. Waffles were good. Elevator didn't work a few times and we had to use stairs. It was a good location for our purpose.
My husband booked thru Hotwire since our hot water heater broke. The rooms are pretty nice, spacious and has a kitchen. However, there was no Wifi and the hot tub was out of order. They said they were implementing a new system therefore no Wifi. The reason for the 1 star is the lack of customer service. Even after our Hotwire payment, Hawthorn charged us multiple times. We didn't notice it until the day after when we went back to book one more night directly with the hotel. The woman behind the counter said she's not sure how this happened. The charges totaled to over $550, none of which was correct. My husband was there on two separate occasions where he spent well over an hour each time to try to get our account credited immediately. You would think with all of the time involved to correct their mistakes and the inconvenience, we'd receive our 2nd night for free but was only offered $10 off. They did not seem to care. We will not be back.
Nice quiet hotel with a good breakfast. Check in took longer than expected but they gave me a nice room.
Well... Our first room smelled like smoke. They did switch us to another room. The hot tub was out of order. The elevator was on the fritz when we first got there so we had to carry our luggage up the stairs. The rooms were nicely furnished though and the breakfast in the morning was nice. Would try again but hopefully they resolve some of these issues.
This is all older property that has received some upgrades. The room was nice and spacious with upgraded appliances, though, structurally, it showed signs of aging. In general, it was just average...not bad, but better properties could be found for the price.
