Always very nice as long as you cooperate with them
I was pulled over on the way to school for "failing to use my turn signal two times". Not only did the police officer not use his turn signal behind me (i had an eye on him) but also very clearly sped before turning on his lights to pull me over on the next street. When we came up and told me that, I said that I had used it but the turn signal was broken and we were getting it fixed that weekend. He, clearly itching to ticket someone, then went back and ran my license while I looked for the proof of insurance. He found that I was pulled over once last year for "failing to display" my front license plate which was in my front windshield instead of the place on the car, where there is no mount to hang it from. I'm newly 18, driving my parent's car, there was nothing I could really do to fix that. He comes back and writes a ticket for the front tag (warning on turn signal), then asks if I've found my insurance. I say not yet, and he says i could text my mom or dad to see if they're home. It's about 8:30 am, so I say I'll text my dad but he lives in Atlanta, Georgia and he might not be up yet. So he says if I don't produce it I have to come to court to, and I say I understand. He says he's going to go back to his car and write the ticket but if I can find it by the time he comes back I won't have to appear. I text my dad and he sends me the information, officer comes back and I give it to him, and he says great you won't have to appear, hands me the ticket, and says "maybe dad can help you take car of this stuff when you get home after school" I JUST TOLD HIM 5 SECONDS AGO THAT MY DAD LIVES IN ATLANTA GEORGIA AND HE RESPONDED TO IT. Then he leaves. No telling of when I'm supposed to pay it by, how I pay it, or even HOW MUCH IT IS? And he didn't write it anywhere on the ticket. He also had already filled out that I had to appear in court but then crossed it out and put no, so I just got a letter from the City of UA saying that my failure to appear in court has caused them to issue a warrant for my arrest. MY ARREST. I AM AN 18 YEAR OLD HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WHO DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO PUT MY FRONT TAGS ON MY CAR AND THEY ISSUED A WARRANT FOR MY ARREST. Calling today to fix this. Absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary. Officers just seem bored and wanting to pull over whoever for the smallest thing they see.
Got pulled over from the front on North Star and he told me the reason he pulled me over was due to my tags being expired. Even though I was coming towards him. I am an African American as well. I grew up in Gahanna so I know 1st hand what racial profiling is. He was very rude and asked me what I was doing out here like I was not suppose to be in this area. I told him I work for an apartment complex in Grandview. He pulled me over in front of my job. I hope you feel the pain you caused me and my children 1 day. He gave me a ticket and then lied and said I didn't show him proof of insurance. So now my license are suspended until I show proof. I didn't even know he marked it until i applied for a job an was denied due to suspended license. Even though I showed proof. Do better please and STOP RACIAL PROFILING. How do you know I couldn't afford to live here?
