Really cute used bookstore! Prices were good, the older gentleman working was very friendly, and it was nice to support a small business!
Large, wonderfully organized, a book lover's dream. Great selection of used books of every kind. It's on par with a Half-Priced Books, but a bit more atmospheric. Acorn Bookstore is just as good or better than The Book Loft.
A beautiful, old-school bookshop. They have a huge variety of books—many of which are rather old—and it always smells great in there. The staff are knowledgeable and they always treat you like an old friend. I once heard a customer ask how one of the workers was doing. He replied, "I'm surround by books and book people—I couldn't be better!" You'll feel the same way when you're there.
I'm a movie buff more so than a book collector so as I was browsing the small selection of dvd' s that were available and I felt as if the grey haired women to which I believe was an owner, was making it abundantly clear that she was watching me as if I was going to steal some items. More than once I was approached and asked if I could be "helped" but not in the sense that she was being polite if you know what I mean and more than once she had taken the items that I had selected for purchase to hold them for me at the counter until I had completed browsing as if I were going to run out of the door with them. I work construction and my outfit and appearence at the time may not have been as one of a typical well to do or book connoisseur but as the saying goes, dont judge a book by its cover. Perhaps I am jumping to conclusions and she truly was being helpful but I couldn't imagine this kind of special customer service with everyone in the store especially during busy hours. I don't know if it was just the feeling I got but I don't feel as if I would be returning anytime soon., I know when I'm not welcomed and am happy to oblige.
So many books! An old fashioned but well organized treasure trove of delight. If you love books, you will not be able to leave without an armload!
