I recently purchased a bike from Bike Source. I have to admit I haven't ridden a bike since I was a kid so I went in knowing very little about what I was looking for. After explaining to the sales associate that I really just wanted something comfortable for short distance rides I decided on a cruiser bike. I decided to think on the decision before making the purchase. I came back a few days later to make the purchase for the same bike, but when I got home I realized the seat was much shorter than when I took it for a test ride. I went to take the tag off the bike and it read 43cm height 4'10 - 5'3. I am 5'6. I took the bike in to see if it was too small for me. The sales associate Ryan was very nice and said he would check with the manager on what the sizing was for this particular brand as he was not sure about sizing. Once the seat was raised where it needed to be for my height it was obvious it was too small for me. I was okay with the mistake until the assistant manager Thomas got involved. It was the most unpleasant customer service experience I have ever had! He proceeded to tell me that if I came in and took the bike for a test ride and liked it why wouldn't they sell it to me. I tried to explain to him, that is part of the reason I came to this store because I didn't know what kind of bike I wanted or what size I needed. Not only did he take no responsibility for the mistake or apologize. It was clear he didn't even want my business because he made no effort to make the situation right. Quite honestly I think Thomas just enjoyed the sound of his own voice. I asked for a refund only because of his rudeness and attitude. It was about the principle at the end of the day. I can spend my money anywhere. I chose your business and your blaming me for a mistake your company made. That's not good business and if I had to guess the other review below that mentions the manager being a dick was probably talking about Thomas. Bike Source may want to rethink who they have in management. I was sad to let the bike go but I support businesses that want there consumers happy and are not just happy to make a sale!
I came I last Saturday looking to buy a road bicycle that day and was thinking of the 3000 to 3500 price range. I was wanting Ultegra Groupset carbon fiber. The associate acted like I was bothering him. He did not offer me details on the bikes and as I looked I saw one that I wanted to inquire about but the associate said most of these are out of stock anyway so I left and bought a nice Emonda at the Trek store a couple blocks down. I guess they don't work on commission.
Honestly love this place! I bought my first bike since I was a kid from these guys and couldn’t be happier with my purchase. I’ll admit when I first walked in I was kind of intimidated by all the $2000+ priced tags, but within minutes of talking to a service rep I was able to find the perfect bike, both style and price, that I needed. Being a new rider I’ve had lots of questions and problems (user error) with the bike and these guys are always willing to help me. Everyone I’ve dealt with here has been super friendly and extremely helpful but I specifically want to give a shout out to Tom Bell. Almost every time I’ve come in with a problem on the bike Tom has happened to be working. He has always done a great job explaining what’s wrong with the bike and ways that I can prevent the same problem from happening. Seriously would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a new bike. Especially beginners and college kids like me. Yes they might not be the cheapest option here on campus, but they’ll do their best to find a bike that’s in your price range and fits your needs.
Friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff await! New tires for my bike (flak jacket) and tubes were insanely affordable. You cannot go wrong at Bike Source.
BikeSource was my local shop for a number of years when I was in the area. Their young energetic mechanics and sales associates were always friendly and interesting when I stopped by the shop to pick up parts, supplies, or chat. Their employees were well-educated in a variety of disciplines and were willing to help out where needed. The shop worked on and built up several of my bikes without issue. It was the only shop in central Ohio that consistently provided superior services.
