Went to a Saturday morning skate lesson. Great time. I haven't been on skates in many years, though I skated as a kid. Instructors were very knowledgeable and patient with students of all ages, from young to older adults. Open skate after lesson is discounted too. Can't wait to go back and sorry I waited so long to try it!
A little run-down and dated, but one of the only skating rinks left in town.
Kids enjoyed being at the Skating rink. I felt the rink is too slippery. That's why the skate support was required in the beginning. They charged extra $6 for the skate support. Overall fun place with friends!
Came for the family Skate. Great facility but the music was horrible. Nothing but songs about sex, drugs, prostitution and strippers. Might I add that most of the kids there were between 3 and 12. I don’t care if these are top 40 songs. You can do better. Find musical content that’s more G RATED.
Update as of November 2017:. Skate Zone 71 now requires kids under 18 to wear wrist guards while skating. While they do provide them for free, they neglected to either 1) notify us at the register AND skate counter 2) or provide us with them when we got our skates. If this is something that we must follow, they should make sure to provide them when we get our skates. My child was bodily pulled off the rink because he wasn't follow the rules (which weren't explained to us). Wise up and retrain your employees, Cecil.
I spent so much of my childhood and early teen years at this place. It will always hold a special place in my heart. I like that they seem to be really trying to keep all the problems that so many other businesses seem to run into like fights and the problems associated with things like that. They have a good mix of events and skating times for all different ages and interests. And I think it's great that you can go during adult time and not have to worry about navigating around small children and at the same time they have times geared specifically to small children that you can feel comfortable taking your kids to and not worry about adults skating over your kids. Great place for a date night or family fun time!!!!
